WEB DESIGN

The creation of a website has four main stages: planning, building, marketing, maintenance. One of the main functions of a website is to inform. At the same time, a website has to have an attractive design in order to stand out from competing websites and thus become more popular. While the graphical design of a website is important, as it does often determine whether the information on that website is read, the presupposition that only the design truly matters is incorrect. A website can have the most attractive design and interface, but still fail if it does not provide useful information.

The basic principles adhered to when creating a website are:

  • Attractiveness – One must catch the eye even of someone who arrived at the website by mistake;
  • Utility – There must be something that will interest the visitor and make them want to come back again;
  • Availability – Visitors should have to expend minimal effort to find and access the website.

Combining these to create a quality website is the essence of web design.

Websites are collections of text, graphics, sounds and animations, all divided into pages, which are accessible by visitors. A website should be designed to create a feeling of wholeness. To achieve that, styles for headings, text and captions should be used in a consistent manner. Colours, effects and other graphical elements should also be used to create an appropriate mood. A well designed website is expressive, consistent and a pleasure for the visitor to use and explore.

Design of The Website

The design of every website is directly bound to the type of website in question. Every page will contain the logo of the business or service. Every website has one or several standard colours that it should be associated with.
